U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow (D) |
BIRMINGHAM, MICH., January 17, 2013 – U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow will deliver the keynote address at the Birmingham Bloomfield Chamber’s Government Forecast Breakfast, scheduled for 8-9:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11, at The Community House in Birmingham.
The third-term Democrat easily defeated Republican opponent Pete Hoekstra in November. She was first elected to the Senate in 2000.
Stabenow is chairwoman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, and is focused on growing the Michigan agriculture economy, the second-largest sector of the Michigan economy. She also supported and worked to gain passage of the recent bailout of the automobile industry.
Stabenow is expected to discuss the current political climate in Washington and its impact on the nation’s – and Michigan’s – economy. She also will field questions from the audience.
“We are excited Senator Stabenow accepted our invitation to keynote our Government Forecast breakfast and provide our members and guests an opportunity to interact directly with their representative in Washington,” said Joe Bauman, president of the Birmingham Bloomfield Chamber. “It will be interesting to hear her take on all the drama playing out in Congress over spending cuts, raising the debt ceiling, and avoiding a second fiscal cliff.”
Cost of the event is $40 for Chamber members in advance, and $50 for nonmembers and includes a full breakfast. Sponsorships and corporate tables also are available.
For more information and to register for the Government Forecast breakfast, visit the Chamber Web site at www.bbcc.com, or call the chamber offices at (248) 644-1700, ext. 24.
